Beck led the SU backline that recorded their fifth and sixth shutouts of the season.

Seattle University women’s soccer senior defender Kelly Beck (Tacoma, Wash.) has been named Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4. This is the Redhawks’ second honor of the season after Summer Mason (Carlsbad, Calif.) was named Offensive POW earlier this season (Sept. 7-13).

Beck led the Seattle U defensive line to a pair of shutouts over the weekend, now with six on the season. The Redhawks have recorded five shutouts in their last seven games, all on the road. On Friday at Chicago State, Beck led the SU backline that allowed the Cougars no shots in a 5-0 shutout. In Sunday’s match, a double-overtime draw at UMKC, Seattle U held the ‘Roos off the scoreboard, limiting them to just five shots on frame.

CSU Bakersfield’s Aminah Settles was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the game-winner versus NM State, also scoring in a win vs. UTRGV.

Seattle U returns home for the first time since August after a seven-game road swing over the past month. The Redhawks host UTRGV in their WAC home opener on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. before closing out the weekend vs. New Mexico State on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 12 noon.
