The Seattle University women’s golf team completed the Rose City Collegiate Tuesday, finishing in a tie for sixth place in the tournament hosted by Portland State University at the Langdon Farms Golf Club.

Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) once again finished as the top Redhawk, posting birdies on the fourth, fifth, and 18th holes as she shot even-par 72 for the second straight round, ending the tournament in a tie for 11th place at 219 (+3). Yen Ting Wong (Singapore) birdied the first hole, but struggled the rest of the day, shooting 80 (+8) to end up in a tie for 34th place at 229 (+13).

Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) collected two birdies in the final round as she shot 77 (+5), finishing in a tie for 38th place at 230 (+14). Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) ended her round with a birdie on the 18th hole as she shot 79 (+7) to complete the tournament in a tie for 41st place at 231 (+15).

Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) had problems on the front nine, but she recovered on the back nine with two birdies and seven pars to finish with a third round score of 77 (+5) and a three-round total of 232 (+16), tying for 45th place. Juhee Lee (Wilsonville, Ore.) started with two birdies over the first four holes, but encountered issues the rest of the way, shooting 80 (+8) for a 54-hole total of 236 (+20), finishing in a tie for 52nd place.

The Redhawks posted a team score of 305 (+17) in the final round, finishing the tournament in a tie for sixth place with Colorado State with a three-round total of 906 (+42). San Francisco held off second place Oregon State by two strokes and third place Fresno State by four strokes to take the team title at 871 (+7), with San Francisco’s Vanessa Ha coming from behind to earn medalist honors by three strokes with a tournament-record score of 210 (-6).

“The team is progressing nicely, our practices have become higher quality, and we have matured quite a bit competitively,” Seattle U head golf coach Marc Chandonnet said. “If we can keep on this pace, keep everyone excited and motivated, we should compete for a win at some point this year.”

Seattle University continues its fall season in the Pacific Northwest, making the short trip east to Sammamish, Wash., for the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington at the Sahalee Country Club next Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 6-7. The Redhawks will then host the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country Club in Lakewood, Wash., Oct. 12-13.
