The Seattle University baseball team welcomed back many of its former players Saturday, Sept. 26, for the annual Alumni Game, this year taking place at the Redhawks' home field of Bannerwood Park.

"It was a great day for the history of our program as well as the future. So many of our families came back to watch the game, and it was a tremendous opportunity for us to stay connected with our alums. It is the first year we were able to field a team of guys who can truly still play. It has taken us five years to get enough graduates in the system to have a real game and all parties involved had a lot of fun," Seattle U head baseball coach Donny Harrel said.

The alumni roster included 17 players who helped the Redhawk baseball program rebuild after it returned to varsity status in 2010. Three former Redhawks who now play professional baseball served as honorary coaches: Landon Cray (Tampa Bay Rays system), Will Dennis (Baltimore Orioles system), and Eric Yardley (San Diego Padres system).

The Seattle U baseball team continues its fall practice season, culminating in the annual Red and Black Series, four intrasquad contests to take place Oct. 10-11 and Oct. 17-18 at Meridian Park in Shoreline, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. each day.
