Seattle University maintained its position as play concluded Tuesday at the Husky Invitational, as the Redhawks finished in 14th place after the third and final round of the tournament hosted by the University of Washington at the Tumble Creek Golf Course.
Kyle Cornett (Mill Creek, Wash.) ended up as the top Redhawk on the leaderboard, finishing in a tie for 53rd place at 230 (+17) after shooting 78 (+7) in the final round. Despite two birdies and an eagle on the par-five 15th hole, Joe Harvie (Orting, Wash.) shot 77 (+6) in the third round to end up in a tie for 56th place with a three-round total of 232 (+19).
Ross Kukula (Ocean Park, Wash.) shot 81 (+10), earning an eagle on the par-five 14th hole to go along with two birdies, to finish in a tie for 63rd place at 235 (+22). Ryan Hunt (Pitt Meadows, B.C.) ended up in 68th place at 263 (+50) after shooting 87 (+16) in the third round, while Patrick Sato (Bellevue, Wash.) posted Seattle U’s best round of the day at 76 (+5).
Seattle U combined for a team score of 312 (+28) and a three-round total of 941 (+89), remaining in 14th place. Washington and Oregon rallied with identical third-round scores of 282 (-2) to tie for the team title at 865 (+13), finishing ahead of Oregon State by four strokes. Corey Pereira of Washington shot 69 (-2) to win the individual title at 206 (-7), one stroke ahead of USC’s Sean Crocker.
In the Husky Individual Tournament held at the nearby Prospector Golf Course, Ahren Young (Renton, Wash.) finished in 40th place after shooting 85 (+13) in the final round for a three-round total of 253 (+37).
Seattle University heads to Pullman, Wash., for the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate, hosted by Washington State University at the Palouse Ridge Golf Clun Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 28-29.
