Seattle U Travels to Las Cruces for WAC Tournament: The Redhawks advance to their second straight WAC Tournament and will travel for postseason play for the first time since returning to Division I after hosting last year’s edition of the league tournament. No. 4 Seattle U will play the first game of the double elimination tournament versus No. 5 Utah Valley (Thursday, 11 am MT/10 am PT) and, with a win, will face No. 1 New Mexico State (Thursday, 4 pm MT/3 pm PT) or, with a loss, will play the loser of No. 2 UMKC/No. 3 Bakersfield in an elimination game (Thursday, 6:30 pm MT/5:30 pm PT). All games will be broadcast on the WAC Digital Network, with links to the broadcast and live stats on the softball schedule page at GoSeattleU.com. All WAC Digital Network games are viewable online and on iPhone/tablet at www.wacsports.com/watch.

WAC Tournament Tickets Now on Sale: Fans can now purchase tickets to the WAC softball tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. (May 7-9) on Ticketmaster, by phone at (575) 646-1420, or at the NM State Softball Complex all days during the tournament. An all-session pass is $25 for adults, $10 for youth/WAC students and a single day pass is $12 for adults, $5 for youth/WAC students.

Hit Parade: Paige Bouska recorded a team-high 15-game hitting streak from Mar. 21 vs. Loyola Marymount to Apr. 17 vs. Kansas City.

Bubba Morrow Clinches Seattle U Career Doubles Record: Morrow gained the top spot in Seattle University’s all-time career doubles records (37 as of 5/4) with a two-base hit in the third inning of game two vs. Portland State on Apr. 1, surpassing the previous record (32) set by Allegra Wilde (2010-13). Lisa Maulden (34) and Jenny Hurst (30) are also closing in on top spots in the same category.

Climbing the Ladder: Lisa Maulden (34) and Jenny Hurst (30) are also closing in on top spots in SU’s all-time career doubles while Morrow currently sits in second place (31) in SU career home runs (record: 37, Jane Purdy, 2005-08) and second place (127) in career RBI (record: 162, Jane Purdy). Maulden currently ranks third in career RBI (101).

Scouting No. 1 New Mexico State (42-13, 14-1 WAC): New Mexico State, the host team of this year’s tourney, clinched the regular season title and a No. 1 seed and receives a first round bye. Brennalyn Nakamura (.398, 28R, 37H, 6 2B, 4 HR, 22 RBI) leads the team at the plate while, among starters, Staci Rodriguez has posted a team-high .394 average (62R, 61H, 14 2B, 13 HR, 50 RBI). In the circle, Karysta Donisthorpe owns a team-low 3.01 ERA, 20-4 record, four shutouts, and three saves. Over the 2015 season, the Aggies have earned a combined 13 WAC weekly honors, most recently sweeping the last one of the season this week (player: Haley Nakamura, pitcher: Karysta Donisthorpe).

Scouting No. 2 UMKC (27-26, 7-7 WAC): Katie Kelley (.377, 28 R, 66 H, 17 2B, 16 HR, 61 RBI) and Cinda Ramos (.376, 36 R, 67 H, 15 2B, 1 3B, 7 HR 45 RBI) are UMKC’s top hitters while, in the circle, Amber Grove has a team-low 4.04 ERA (8-8 record). The ‘Roos vastly improved their conference standings over the last two weekends of conference play, winning five straight with a three-game sweep of Utah Valley and taking two from the Redhawks (third game cancelled due to rain).

Scouting No. 3 Bakersfield (19-23, 7-8 WAC): Bakersfield won three of their last four games and, of note, the Roadrunners handed NM State their only WAC loss of the season, a 3-0 CSUB victory in Bakersfield on Saturday, Apr. 18. Madison Bundy is Bakersfield’s top hitter (.359, 20 R, 33 H, 8 2B, 3 HR, 12 RBI) while Kelsie Monroe leads the Roadrunner pitching staff (2.72 ERA, 14-9, 18 CG, 6sho). In 2014, the Redhawks ended the Roadrunners’ season in their second game of the WAC tournament, a 2-1 SU win on May 9.

Scouting No. 5 Utah Valley (16-38, 3-12 WAC): Earlier this season, the Redhawks won the series over the Wolverines, taking two of three games in Orem (Apr. 10-11). UVU has a non-conference game at BYU Tuesday night before heading to Las Cruces for the league tournament. Brianna Gatlin (.338, 26 R, 45 H, 7 2B, 8 HR, 22 RBI) leads Utah Valley at the plate while, among starters, Bailey Moore leads the Wolverines in the circle (5.33 ERA, 10-19, 8 CG, 2 sho, 1 save).

Hurst Named GoSeattleU.com Featured Student-Athlete (Apr. 20-26): Hurst started all three games for the Redhawks on senior weekend and has scored five runs on 16 hits, adding five doubles, one triple, and 10 RBIs during her senior campaign. Earlier this season, she was named to the 2015 College Sports Madness Preseason All-WAC Second Team. Through regular season play, she ranks in the Seattle U top five for career doubles.
