Seattle University head golf coach Marc Chandonnet has announced that Yen Ting Wong from Singapore signed a National Letter of Intent during the April signing period to attend the university and join the Redhawk women’s golf program starting in the 2015-16 academic year.

Wong is attending the Methodist Girls School in Singapore, where she has competed in the National Inter-School Golf Championship in each of the past four years. Individually, she finished in second place three times and in third place once while helping her team to two championships (2012 and 2014) and two second-place finishes (2011 and 2013).

In 2014 alone, Wong competed in the National Amateur Golf Championship, the ASEAN School Games, the Kartina Cup, the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship, and the Causeway Cup. A member of the Keppel Club since 2010, she is a three-time winner of the club’s Ladies Match Play Championship (2011, 2012, 2014), and she served as the team captain at the 2014 Keppel Club Junior Invitational, leading her team to its second straight title while winning individual honors as well.

In the classroom, Wong has received the Edusave Award for Achievements, Good Leadership, and Service (EAGLES) in both 2012 and 2013, as well as the COLOURS Award in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She is interested in pursuing a career in psychology, plus she actively participates in community service projects.

"I'm delighted to add Yen Ting to our roster this coming fall. She is on the national team in Singapore, an extremely hard worker and an excellent student who has been easy to work with. Her diligence throughout the process proves to me that she is the perfect fit for Seattle U Golf," Chandonnet said.

The Seattle University women’s golf team finished second at the recent Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships, and all five players who represented the Redhawks are eligible to return next year.
