Seattle U to Make Key Conference Trip East: After hosting their only two home games in the month of February last weekend, Seattle University women’s basketball heads east to take on Kansas City (Feb. 19) and Chicago State (Feb. 21) in key Western Athletic Conference matchups. The Redhawks will be on the road the next two weeks before hosting Grand Canyon on Senior Day (Mar. 7) just prior to the conference tournament in Las Vegas. Home Sweet Home: With a record-high 20 home games this season, SU is already through 19 games of their 2014-15 home schedule, completing 10 of 20 (including exhibitions) prior to the Christmas holiday. At the beginning of January, the Redhawks finished a stretch in which they played 11 of 12 on their home court (Nov. 29-Jan. 10). After playing seven of eight home games during the month of December and six of eight in January, the Redhawks are playing on their home floor just twice in February.

Scouting Kansas City (5-19, 3-6 WAC): The ‘Roos have won two of their last four, including most recently vs. Chicago State on Feb. 14, 77-46, in Kansas City, Mo. to open a three-game homestand. In the teams’ last meeting earlier this season (Jan.24), the Redhawks came away with a 60-46 win in Seattle thanks in-part due to Seattle U’s perfect free throw shooting outing (12-for-12). In the game, Wilma Afunugo dished out a career-high four assists as she and Taelor Ross led the Redhawks with 10 points apiece. The series is currently tied at 2-2. Calli White leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.3 ppg while Kiana Law is grabbing a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.

Scouting Chicago State (4-19, 1-8 WAC): The Cougars have lost four of their last five and 11 of their last 13, their first and last conference win coming on Jan. 29 vs. Utah Valley, 60-55. Chicago State also picked up a non-conference win recently vs. Indiana Northwest, 78-56, on Feb. 11. In the Redhawks and Cougars’ last meeting, SU earned a 75-51 win on Jan. 22 in Seattle behind a team-high 16 points and eight rebounds from Wilma Afunugo. In the contest, Jazmine Johnson also dished out a career-high 13 assists, half of the Redhawks’ season-high 26 assists. Paris Williams (11.2 ppg) and Layne Murphy (10.4 ppg) top the team in scoring, while Murphy is also pulling down a team-high 8.1 rpg.

Record Breaking Performances: Renee Dillard-Brown set new career marks in scoring (19 points) and rebounding (9), just one rebound away from a double-double on Feb. 12 vs. NM State. Claire Metoyer also dished out a career-high six assists and recorded a career-high three steals in the game versus the Aggies. The Redhawks, as a team, hit their greatest number of free throws (23-for-26) with their second best percentage of the season (88.5 percent). On Feb. 14 vs. UTPA, Kaylee Best dished out a career high seven assists while Claire Metoyer made a career-high three steals and Taelor Ross set a new career-high with four blocks.

Famous Relatives: Junior transfer Cydnee Ceballos is the daughter of long-time NBA player Cedric Ceballos, who played most notably for the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns and finished his career with the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, and Miami Heat. Junior Taelor Ross is the sister of Terrence Ross, who currently plays for the NBA’s Toronto Raptors.
