Under calmer conditions than in the first round, Seattle University finished the Redhawk-Bulldog Individual Classic with good performances Monday at The Home Course, taking four of the top five spots in the final standings.
For the second straight day, Kyle Cornett (Mill Creek, Wash.) tied for the low round of the day, shooting four-under-par 68 to complete the tournament at 139 (-5), winning it by two strokes over Sean Walsh of Gonzaga. Ross Kukula (Ocean Park, Wash.) also shot 68 in the second round to move up into a tie for third place in the final standings at 142 (-2), the same 36-hole score posted by teammate Patrick Sato (Bellevue, Wash.), who shot 69 in the second round.
Jamie Hall (Seattle, Wash.) shot even-par 72 in the second round to finish the tournament in fifth place at 145 (+1). Joe Harvie (Orting, Wash.) also improved from the first round, matching Hall’s score of 72 to end the two-day event in seventh place at 147 (+3).
Ahren Young (Renton, Wash.) moved into a tie for eighth place with teammate Shane Wathanasaynee (Los Alamitos, Calif.) at 149 (+5), with Young shooting 73 and Wathanasaynee posting a second-round score of 74. Jaesung Choi (Surrey, B.C.) shot 75 (+3) to move up into a tie for 11th place at 154 (+10) and Luka Karaula (Zapresic, Croatia) also posted a second-round score of 75 to end the day in 14th place at 156 (+12).
The Seattle University men’s golf team will compete in the Arizona Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 26-27, in Tucson, Ariz.
