The National Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has announced the Women’s University Division Scholar All-West Region team and three Seattle University women’s soccer student-athletes have been honored. Stephanie Verdoia (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Kiana Kraft (Kent, Wash.) have been named to the First Team while Kelly Beck (Tacoma, Wash.) has been named to the Second Team.

Verdoia, a senior political science major, finished her Redhawk career as one of the most decorated in program history, setting new career program records in goals and points during her historic 2014 campaign. She was named Academic All-American of the Year for Division I Women’s Soccer as well as winning the Senior CLASS Award, among many others. She also received NSCAA First Team Scholar All-American honors from the coaching association.

Kraft, a redshirt junior accounting major, will return for the Redhawks in 2015 after receiving several accolades in 2014 including NSCAA/Continental Tire All-West Region Third Team, Western Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, and First Team All-WAC. Academically, she was also named Academic All-WAC in 2014 after being inducted into the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society in 2013.

Beck, a junior nursing major, also returns for Seattle U as a senior in 2015 after serving as one of two team captains of the WAC Champion Redhawks in 2014. Beck was named Second Team All-WAC as well as College Sports Madness First Team All-WAC and to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-West Region Third Team. Academically, she also represented the team on the Academic All-WAC list.

The Redhawks completed a historic season in 2014, advancing to the program’s first NCAA Division I Tournament Second Round with a win over No. 23 Washington State in the first round. Traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C., No. 18 South Carolina would advance in penalty kicks in the second round. The back-to-back league champions looks to continue building upon their success in 2015.
