Scouting Montana (4-4): Montana is on a two-game winning streak after defeating Caroll on Dec. 7 and, most recently, winning at Portland on Dec. 14, the first of their two-game road swing through the Pacific Northwest. The Grizzlies will host the 34th Lady Griz Classic after their trip to Seattle, hosting SU’s fellow WAC team, Utah Valley as part of the tournament. Kellie Rubel (12.4 ppg) and Kayleigh Valley (10.1 ppg) lead the team in scoring through the first eight games. Montana is 3-2 all-time vs. Seattle U, but the two teams have not faced since the 1985-86 season. SU won the first two meetings (both in 1978-79, the second of which was in the Northwest Women’s Basketball League tournament, also UM head coach Robin Selvig’s first season) while the Grizzlies have won the last three meetings (1979-80, 1980-81, 1985-86).

Scouting Idaho State (3-6): Idaho State earned their most impressive win of the season to date most recently on Dec. 13 vs. Utah Valley, won on late-game free throws. Apiphany Woods (12.4 ppg) and Grace Kenyon (10.2 ppg) lead the team in scoring while Kenyon is also averaging a team high 5.9 rebounds per game. This will be the first time the Bengals and Redhawks have faced since Seattle U returned to Division I play.

High Scoring Performances: Crystal Allen scored a career-high 11 points vs. San Diego on Jan. 12 while Wilma Afunugo made a career-high nine free throws, shooting 9-for-11. Kristin Stoffel set and tied a new season high with four rebounds in each of the two contests last weekend while Kaylee Best tied her career high with four assists vs. San Francisco on Dec. 14.

Conference Leaders: In the Western Athletic Conference, Wilma Afunugo ranks second in field-goal percentage as well as fifth in scoring and rebounding; Alexis Montgomery ranks third in assist turnover ratio and fourth in assists per game; Taelor Ross ranks eighth in field-goal percentage; and Kaylee Best ranks fourth in three-point field goals per game.
