After scoring the game-winning goal in the double overtime victory at No. 23 Washington State in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 14, Seattle University women’s soccer’s Natasha Howe (Mission Viejo, Calif.) has been named Featured Student-Athlete for the week of Nov. 10-16, 2014 on GoSeattleU.com.

“I could not begin to say enough tremendous things about Natasha,” said head coach Julie Woodward.  “She is a perfect representation of our program and everything we are looking for in a student-athlete.  She is one of the hardest working people I have ever met; she is extremely intelligent, disciplined and committed in every aspect of her life.  We feel very fortunate to have her in our program because she is a pretty special young woman.”

After the score remained 1-1 at the end of regulation, the Redhawks and Cougars played through just over 17 minutes of overtime between two periods before Howe drove in the game-winner in the 108th minute.

The win marked the program’s first NCAA tournament win as Seattle U is the only team advancing to the Second Round for the first time in 2014. The victory also marked the team’s first all-time win over WSU.

In the classroom, Howe also excels with a 3.61 GPA as a civil engineering major.

The Redhawks travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face No. 18 South Carolina in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 pm ET/1 pm PT. The winner will face the winner of Colorado and No. 6 North Carolina, also in Chapel Hill, on Sunday, Nov. 23 in the Sweet 16.
