“I could not begin to say enough tremendous things about Natasha,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “She is a perfect representation of our program and everything we are looking for in a student-athlete. She is one of the hardest working people I have ever met; she is extremely intelligent, disciplined and committed in every aspect of her life. We feel very fortunate to have her in our program because she is a pretty special young woman.”
After the score remained 1-1 at the end of regulation, the Redhawks and Cougars played through just over 17 minutes of overtime between two periods before Howe drove in the game-winner in the 108th minute.
The win marked the program’s first NCAA tournament win as Seattle U is the only team advancing to the Second Round for the first time in 2014. The victory also marked the team’s first all-time win over WSU.
In the classroom, Howe also excels with a 3.61 GPA as a civil engineering major.
The Redhawks travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face No. 18 South Carolina in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 pm ET/1 pm PT. The winner will face the winner of Colorado and No. 6 North Carolina, also in Chapel Hill, on Sunday, Nov. 23 in the Sweet 16.
