“It was a good win and our seventh shutout of the season,” said head coach Pete Fewing. “It was a well thought out goal, Hamza Haddadi was composed, and slammed it home. Nick Prasad got a goal in the last game and an assist in this one, so that’s definitely a positive. It’s never easy to beat Air Force on their home field and the guys ground out a good win.”
Hamza Haddadi (Shoreline, Wash.) would put the Redhawks ahead, 1-0, in the 22nd minute off an assist by Nick Prasad (Surrey, B.C.) following a corner kick by Ian Hines-Ike (Littleton, Colo.), which would prove to be the game-winner.
Cameron Rohani (Cartersville, Ga.) finished the first half with a shot on goal as the buzzer neared, but Air Force keeper Jake Schenk was able to come up with the save.
The Falcons threatened in the early second half, with the opening five shots of the half, but a solid Redhawk defense blocked two and Shane Haworth (Puyallup, Wash.) saved three, preserving the shutout.
Haworth recorded the complete game shutout, the team’s seventh of the season, in goal, with six saves while Air Force’s John Fernandez played just 44 seconds, making one save, before Jake Schenk entered, giving up the goal while making two saves.
Haddadi led the Redhawks with two shots, both on goal, while the Falcons’ Blake Elder and Scott McGillivray led all players on the field with four shots apiece.
