Seattle University men’s soccer’s Shane Haworth (Puyallup, Wash.) was named Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 22-28. This is Haworth’s second career honor after he was named for the week of Aug. 25-31.

Last weekend, Haworth recorded two shutouts as the Redhawks won a pair of 1-0 matches over No. 24 Oregon State and Gonzaga this past weekend. He made eight total saves over the weekend, including seven versus Gonzaga on Sept. 28. The pair of shutouts gave him four on the season as he has played all 720 minutes for the Redhawks this season.

This weekend, Seattle U sets their sights on Utah Valley (4-3-0) in their WAC opener in the Wolverines’ first season as a team. SU and UVU face off at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT in Orem, Utah.

The Redhawks (5-3-0) return to Championship Field to host UNLV in their conference home opener on Friday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. in a doubleheader with the women’s team (hosting Grand Canyon at 7:30 p.m.). The men’s team closes the weekend with a second doubleheader, hosting Grand Canyon at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.
