The Seattle University volleyball team lost to 13th-ranked Oregon, 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-21), Tuesday night in a non-conference volleyball match at Matthew Knight Arena.

Iris Ivanis (Pozega, Croatia) led the Redhawks with eight kills and nine digs, while Stephanie Stoll (Bellevue, Wash.) finished with five kills, a service ace, and five total blocks. Kerry Lane (Tucson, Ariz.) dished out 25 assists to go along with three block assists, and Sydney Schafer (Salt Lake City, Utah) contributed three kills, two digs, and two block assists.

Oregon (10-0) opened up a 12-6 lead in the first set with an 8-2 scoring run, punctuated by consecutive service aces from Maggie Scott. The Ducks would close out the opening set with a 9-3 scoring run, featuring two kills from Liz Brenner.

In the second set, Oregon scored four straight points midway through the set to open a 14-8 advantage. The Ducks once again closed out the set with a significant scoring run, outscoring the Redhawks 10-3 down the stretch, led by three kills from Naya Crittenden and concluding with a kill from Brenner.

Led by a kill and a block assist from Stoll, the Redhawks scored the first two points of the third set, but Oregon went on a 6-1 run, led by a service ace and a kill by Frankie Shebby. Seattle U pulled ahead, 10-7, thanks to six unanswered points, featuring three kills from Schafer and back-to-back blocks by Lane and Abby Blanchard (Kennewick, Wash.), but the Ducks responded with their own 7-1 scoring run, led by Martenne Bettendorf with two kills.

Down by three, the Redhawks pulled into an 18-18 tie on a kill by Stoll and consecutive blocks from Stoll and Schafer. After a kill by Ivanis and an Oregon error tied the set at 21-21, the Ducks won four points in a row to clinch the set and the match, with kills by Bettendorf sandwiched around back-to-back service aces by Taylor Agost.

Bettendorf led the Ducks with nine kills, with Brenner and Crittenden contributing eight kills apiece. Scott and Shellsy Ashen earned 16 assists each, and Amanda Benson led all players in the match with 11 defensive digs.

Seattle University (4-9) begins conference play Saturday, Sept. 27, in Orem, Utah against Utah Valley University starting at 1 p.m. local time (12 noon Pacific time).
