“Kevin Lynch’s leadership and dedication has turned the team around and really made it a team,” said head coach Mark Frisby. “He should be really proud of what he’s accomplished.”
Lynch earned two victories at No. 1 singles last week, defeating Pacific Lutheran’s Sam Stadter on Senior Day (Apr. 8) before topping Portland State’s Brent Wheeler on Apr. 11. He also earned a pair of victories at No. 1 doubles with fellow senior, Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.). Lynch and Bediones earned the team’s lone doubles win of the match against Portland State.
The Redhawks defeated both Pacific Lutheran, 7-0, and Portland State, 6-1, last week to finish out the regular season.
Lynch finished the 2013-14 regular season with 13 total singles victories, 12 during the spring dual season.
New Mexico State’s Susana Alcaraz was named WAC Female Tennis Player of the Week after going 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles in a pair of wins versus Idaho and Arkansas State.
