The rain and wind held off long enough for the third and final round of the Redhawk Invitational, hosted by Seattle University, to be completed at Chambers Bay, the site of the 2015 United States Open golf championship.

On the course, Kyle Cornett (Mill Creek, Wash.) shot 75 (+4) to finish the tournament in a tie for 29th place with a three-round total of 218 (+7). Ross Kukula (Ocean Park, Wash.) posted Seattle U’s best score of the third round at one-over-par 72, finishing in a tie for 51st place with a three-round total of 223 (+12). Patrick Sato (Bellevue, Wash.) shot 80 (+9) to end the tournament in a tie for 84th place with a cumulative total of 234 (+23).

Unfortunately, David Torres (Armenia, Colombia) was forced to withdraw from the round with a back injury. After the round, it was discovered that Luka Karaula (Zapresic, Croatia) had signed an incorrect scorecard, disqualifying him from the round and preventing the Redhawks from posting a team score because they did not have four valid completed rounds.

UCLA held onto the team title with a three-stroke victory over Washington, with the Bruins combining for a three-round total of 835 (-9). Grant Forrest of San Diego maintained his spot at the top of the individual standings, combining his first day scores of 63 (-7) and 65 (-5) with a final round mark of 72 (+1) to finish at 11-under-par 200, three strokes ahead of Arizona State’s Jon Rahm.

The Seattle University men’s golf team will next compete at the El Macero Classic, co-hosted by UC Davis and Nevada at the El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif., April 18-20.
