“Kevin really deserves this honor,” said head coach Mark Frisby. “He’s been developing over the past four years and he’s turned out to be a fantastic leader. He’s had some tremendous wins and has been in every match this year.”
Over the weekend, Lynch led Seattle U with two singles victories in as many matches as they went 1-1 vs. Montana State. In the team’s first ever win over the Bobcats on Mar. 7, he defeated Niklas Brandes, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 1 singles and earned a doubles win in the No. 1 spot with partner Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.). He also earned a win at No. 2 singles vs. MSU’s Javier Martin Morillas, 6-2, 6-4, on Mar. 8.
The Redhawks split the weekend in two matches vs. Montana State, earning their first ever win over the Bobcats on Mar. 7 before falling, 4-3, on Mar. 8.
To date this spring season, Lynch is 8-7 in singles play overall and 5-8 in doubles play.
Idaho’s Almudena Sanz was named WAC Female Tennis Player of the Week after going 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles over the week.
Seattle U returns to action this weekend in Reno, Nev. as they face Nevada on Friday, Mar. 14 at 12 p.m. and UMBC on Saturday, Mar. 15 at 1 p.m.
