SCOUTING PORTLAND: The Pilots enter the week with a 4-10 overall record, snapping an eight-game losing streak with two victories over Bakersfield this past weekend. The third game of the scheduled series with the Roadrunners was cancelled due to rain. As a team, Portland has compiled a .201 batting average, a .971 fielding percentage, and a 4.23 earned run average. Bo Cornish leads the team with a .273 batting average, while Turner Gill has 14 hits and eight walks, both team highs. Caleb Whalen leads the way with two home runs, and Cody Lenahan has driven in eight runs so far this season. In the Pilot bullpen, Brandon Snyder has made seven appearances so far this season, and Colin Feldtman has the team’s only save so far this season to go along with a 1.50 ERA.

SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE: The Cougars are 6-7 overall after winning two games at the Northwestern State tournament last weekend. Chicago State will open its home schedule this weekend against the Redhawks. As a team, the Cougars have compiled a .290 batting average, a .966 fielding percentage, and a 4.86 earned run average. Sanford Hunt leads the team with a .362 batting average, while Jordan Stroschein is batting .333 along with a team-high seven stolen bases and Chicago State’s only home run so far this year. Chase Matheson and Evan Davis are tied for the team lead with 12 runs batted in apiece. Out of the bullpen, Jerry Silva is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and nine strikeouts in 10 innings of work. These will be the first meetings all-time between Seattle University and Chicago State.
