Seattle U put up a fight at No. 3 doubles as Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) and Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) came within two points of Weber State’s Ashley Tanner and Michelle Warwick, 6-4, but the Redhawks surrendered the doubles point, falling in all three matches.
Ashley Tanner and Agata Bachanek extended the Weber State lead to 3-0 earning singles wins in the first two matches to finish. Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) and Gabriella Weissmann (Simi Valley, Calif.) narrowed the deficit as WSU led by just one, 3-2, through four singles matches. Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) would then even the score at three points apiece with one singles match remaining.
In a near identical fashion to Friday’s SU match, the match came down to the tiebreaker of the final singles match as Thais Kurer defeated Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) by just two points in the tiebreaker, 6-2, 1-6, 10-8.
Seattle U will round out the weekend facing Boise State in Boise on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.
