Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) and Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) earned a doubles win in the No. 3 spot, defeating Madelyn Weltzin and Kasey Bacon, 6-3, but Idaho State earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the first point and take the early 1-0 lead.
Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.) would then take a 2-1 lead for the Redhawks, earning wins at No. 4 and No. 3 singles, and would continue to lead, 3-2, as Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) earned a win at No. 1 singles. However, at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, the Bengals’ Laura Theus and Wiebke Boeckmann would seal the come-from-behind victory for ISU, 4-3.
Seattle U returns to competition on Saturday, Feb. 1 vs. Weber State at 10 a.m. and closes out the weekend at Boise State on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.
