In match one, Air Force earned the doubles point, sailing through each of the three matches. Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.)/Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) in number one doubles and Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas)/Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) in number three doubles each took two games before falling, 8-2, while Barbara Carey (Seattle, Wash.)/Gabriella Weissmann (Simi Valley, Calif.) won one before falling, 8-1.
In singles play, the closest match came at number four doubles as Carey took one set from Marcelli Magday and took the next to a tiebreaker, but was ultimately defeated. Woodman also took one set from Tiffany Tran at number one singles.
In the second match of the doubleheader, Air Force also earned the doubles point, but unlike in the first match, Seattle U won one of the three matches, as Lucas/Woodman defeated Tiffany Tran/Mary Meyers at number two doubles, 6-4. In a close match at number three doubles, Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) took four games before falling, 6-4.
In singles play during the second match, the teams played until three of the six matches finished, as Air Force came away with the overall 4-0 win. Sarah Lucas and Barbara Carey were leading in the second set of their respective number three and number four matches, but the match was called as a winner was already decided.
Seattle U (0-2) returns to action on a weekend trip to Idaho, facing Idaho State on Jan. 31, Weber State on Feb. 1 and Boise State on Feb. 2.
