Seattle University head men’s basketball coach Cameron Dollar has announced that Jadon Cohee, a 6’4” point guard from Langley, B.C., Canada, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Seattle U and join the Redhawk men’s basketball program starting in the 2014-15 academic year.

Cohee, a player for legendary coach George Bergen at Walnut Grove Secondary School, averaged 23 points, seven assists, and six rebounds per game last season, helping his team win the AAA provincial championship and earning first team all-star and tournament MVP honors along the way. Cohee led Walnut Grove to a 41-3 overall record, scoring a season-high 44 points against W.J. Mouat along with two 30-point performances and a 22-point effort in the championship game against White Rock Christian.

"Jadon is a complete guard that can make plays for himself and others. He already has a tremendous work ethic and desire to be the best. I'm very excited he has chosen to join our family,” Dollar said.

Cohee was named Mr. Basketball in British Columbia in 2012-13, a prestigious award that has been won in the past by NBA star Steve Nash and current Boston Celtic Kelly Olynyk. Cohee will join fellow Canadians Emerson Murray (Vancouver, B.C.) and Manroop Clair (Vancouver, B.C.) on next year’s Redhawk roster. All three players played for Pasha Baines and the Drive Basketball AAU squad.

Seattle University (1-1), coming off an exciting comeback victory over Cal State Fullerton in the home opener Wednesday night, hosts Evergreen State at KeyArena at Seattle Center Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. Tickets for all remaining Redhawk basketball games at KeyArena are available through Ticketmaster, the KeyArena Box Office during normal business hours, or online at www.goseattleu.com/sutickets.
