For the second consecutive year, Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.), a four-year letterwinner on the Seattle University men’s golf team, has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for combining exemplary performances on the golf course and in the classroom, announced Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Seibly played in all 11 tournaments the Seattle U men’s golf team participated in during the 2012-13 season, leading the Redhawks with a 75.1 scoring average. He was the team’s top finisher five times and tied for the lowest round posted by a Seattle U golfer during the season, twice shooting 68.

In the classroom, Seibly, an accounting major within the Albers School of Business and Economics, finished the 2012-13 academic year with a 3.644 grade point average after posting a 3.9 GPA during the spring quarter. Just last weekend, Seibly finished second overall and as low amateur at the Rosauers Open at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane, Wash.

“Being named an All-America Scholar is special! It takes a leader, someone committed to excellence both in the classroom and on the golf course. Rob has proven over the last year that he has the character to accomplish great things in life. I would like to thank him for his efforts and let him know that we are proud to call him a Redhawk,” Seattle U head golf coach Marc Chandonnet said.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

The Seattle University men’s golf team reports to campus in early September for the 2013-14 season, which will culminate with the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championships May 2-4, 2014, at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
