Craig Nisgor, head coach of the Seattle University men’s swim team, announced that three student-athletes have committed to attend the University and join the Redhawk swim program starting in the 2013-14 academic year.

“Our spring recruiting went very well and we know that we have some great additions to our team for next year,” Nisgor said. “All three of them have developed so much over the past year, and it is exciting to think about how much better they will continue to get.”

Mark Langston (Elk Grove, Calif.) was a four-year letterwinner at Franklin High School, where he holds the school records in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and 500 freestyle. He earned team MVP honors in 2012 and has reached the CIF swimming championships every year he has competed in high school. Currently a member of the Arden Hills USA Swim Team, he competed at the 2013 NCSA Junior Nationals.

Matt Morris (Lufkin, Texas) holds the school records in the 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, and 200 freestyle relay at Lufkin High School. He received the Team Warrior Award in 2012 as well as the team MVP award in 2013. A member of swim clubs in both Oregon and Texas over the past five years, Morris has posted solid times in the 200 individual medley and 200 freestyle during national events.

Tanner Schelling (Boise, Idaho) was a four-year letterwinner at Centennial High School, leading the Patriots to both district and state titles earlier this year. He would finish second in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle as well as win the 200 medley relay at the state championships. In just over two years with the Boise Y Swim Team, Schelling would own the team records in the 200 individual medley along with being a part of the top marks in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 800 freestyle relay.

“Tanner, Matt and Mark get faster every time they hit the water. Each of them brings so much to the table and will be able to contribute right away. Seeing the time drops that they have had in the past six months tells us that they are putting in the work and will definitely only continue to improve. They are a great group in every aspect, and we know that we definitely have a strong class coming in,” added Nisgor.

The three new signees brings the total men’s swimming recruiting class to six, as Alec Banard (Everett, Wash.), Michael Cox (Maple Valley, Wash.), and Connor Webb (Hood River, Ore.) signed NLIs during the November period. The Seattle University men’s swim team enters its first season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
