On a day in which the average score rose over three strokes from the first round due to increased winds, the Seattle University men’s golf team fought through the difficult conditions to end the second round in 10th place after Tuesday’s action at the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championships at Rio Secco Golf Club.

Junior Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.) tied for the Redhawks’ low round of the day, shooting nine-over-par 81 to end the day in a tie for 26th place at 154 (+10). Teammate David Torres (Armenia, Columbia) is also tied for 26th place with a two-round total of 154 after shooting 10-over-par 82 in the second round.

Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) also sits in a tied for 43rd place at 159 with a second-round score of 85 (+13), while Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) shot 82 (+10) to finish the day in 49th place at 162 (+18).

New Mexico State was the only team to shoot under 300 in the round, posting a second-round score of 298 (+10) to pull out to a 17-stroke lead in the team standings over UT Arlington and San Jose State.
