Seattle University women’s rowing continued their successful first varsity season at the Covered Bridge Regatta near Eugene, Ore. as the N8+ finished first and the V8+ finished fourth. Both rowed the program's newest racing shell, the Ellie Rolfe, which was dedicated on Apr. 6.
"I thought all the girls performed well today," said interim head coach Jenny Park. "We've got room for improvement, but I'm happy with our results today. This week, we will get ready for the Portland dual meet at home next Saturday."
The Novice 8+ topped Humboldt State, Oregon, and Arizona State, with a finishing time of 08:29.87. Their next closest competitor, HSU, finished more than 20 seconds behind them at 08:52.62.
Earlier in the morning, Seattle U’s Varsity 8+ finished fourth in their flight ahead of Lewis & Clark College, Seattle Pacific, Santa Clara, and Willamette University with a time of 07:24.57. The Redhawks finished just six seconds behind Humboldt State, their next nearest competitor, and 15 seconds behind the winner, Portland, with a time of 07:09.45.
