The Seattle University men’s golf team continued play at the ASU Thunderbird Invite Saturday, completing the second round of the tournament held at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.

David Torres (Armenia, Colombia) is the highest-ranked Redhawk after two rounds and in a tie for 51st after carding a 6-over-par 77 Saturday. When the scores from both rounds are combined, Torres has an overall tally of 148 strokes (+6).

By shooting a 2-over-par 73 Saturday, Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) climbed six spots in the overall standings. He is now in a tie for 68th place with a two-day total of 150 strokes, eight strokes over par. Two shots back, Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) has tallied 152 strokes (+10) on the tournament and is tied for 82nd. Holridge saw a tough day on the course Saturday, carding a 10-over-par 81 during the second round.  

Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.) bettered his first round total by two strokes Saturday, turning in a score of 78, seven strokes above par. He is currently tied for 93rd at 158 strokes (+16) for the tournament. Rounding out the Seattle U lineup, Colter Morton (Pocatello, Idaho) also took 81 strokes (+10) during the second round and is tied for 97th at 18-over-par 160 for the tournament.

As a team, the Redhawks counted 309 strokes in the second round, 25 shots above par, and are in 17th place with 607 strokes (+39) after the first two rounds. New Mexico retained the team lead with 562 strokes (-6) in the tournament, and Oregon State’s Nick Chianello kept the individual lead with a cumulative score of 132, 10 strokes under par.

Seattle U will close out the ASU Thunderbird Invite Sunday, April 7 with the tournament’s third round. Tee times for the Redhawks will start at 8:37 a.m. off the No. 10 tee again at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe.
