The Seattle University men's golf team capped off the WSU Snowman Getaway Tuesday with its best round of the tournament, counting 295 strokes (+7) on the day at Palm Valley Country Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
David Torres (Armenia, Colombia) closed the trip with an even-par 72 on the round, the Redhawks' lowest round of the tournament. He tallied four birdies and four bogeys on the day and finished the tournament with 229 strokes (+13), tied for 68th. Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) also tied at 68th after carding a final round 73 (+1). He played his first nine holes at even par but took one more bogey than birdie on the second nine to round out the tournament at 229 strokes (+13).
Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) also saw a much better day on the links, taking 74 strokes (+2) in his best round of the tournament. He finished two strokes behind Torres and Holdridge in a tie for 72nd at 15-over-par 231.
Alec Pakzad (Bellevue, Wash.) wrapped up his second tournament of the year with a final-round 76 (+4), his best competitive round of the season. He wrapped up the tournament with 235 strokes (+19) and sole possession of 78th place.
Rounding out the Redhawks' lineup, Colter Morton shot a final round 8-over-par 80 and in 85th place with 239 strokes (+23).
As a team, the Redhawks took 295 strokes (+7) on the day, nine strokes better than their second round performance. They close the WSU Snowman Getaway with 919 strokes (+55), while 26th-ranked Missouri took the team title at 853 strokes (-11). Michael Anderson of Washington State and Jace Long of Missouri tied for the individual title at seven-under-par 209.
The Redhawks next hit the links Sunday, March 10 and Monday, March 11 at the Sacramento State Invitational. That tournament will be played at Valley Hi Country Club in Sacramento, Calif.
