Craig Nisgor, head coach of the Seattle University women's swim team, announced that he signed two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the recently-completed early signing period to come to the university and join the Redhawk women's swimming program starting in the 2012-13 academic year.
Dilynn D'Agostino (Gresham, Ore.) finished in fourth place in the 100 breaststroke at the 2011 Oregon 6A Girls' High School Championships representing Gresham High School. Also participating with the Maverick Aquatics club program, D'Agostino's best time in the 200 breaststroke would be third-fastest on the Seattle U all-time list, and her top times in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley would also be among the top ten times in those events.
"Dilynn is a top level breaststroker who has really exploded on the swimming scene in the past two years. From day one we knew she would be a good fit at Seattle U, and we are excited to have her joining us and keeping up our strong tradition in the breaststroke," Nisgor said.
Tiffany Dang (Bothell, Wash.) will stay close to home after posting top-ten performances in the 50 freestyle (seventh) and 100 backstroke (ninth) for Bothell High School at the 2011 Washington 4A Girls' High School Championships. A member of WAVE Aquatics, her current top times in the 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and 200 backstroke would fit into the top ten on Seattle U's all-time list of top times.
"Tiffany is someone who will be an asset to the team with everything she does. She had a very strong state meet in November," said Nisgor. "She brings a great attitude and strong leadership skills, and we know she will be a valuable contributor to our program over the next four years."
The Seattle University women's swim program will join 16 other Redhawk teams in moving to the Western Athletic Conference July 1, 2012. Currently a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the Redhawk women will face Simon Fraser Friday evening, Jan. 20, followed by a double dual meet against Simon Fraser and Washington State Saturday, Jan. 21.
