Led by a top-ten performance by Quin Koplitz (Enumclaw, Wash.) through the first 36 holes, the Seattle University men's golf team is in fifth place after Monday's second round of the Kauai Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Puakea Golf Course.
Koplitz started the tournament with a first-round 71 (-1) Sunday and followed that with a second-round score of 73 (+1) to finish the day in a tie for eighth place with a cumulative score of even-par 144. He is eight strokes behind 36-hole leader Thomas Kua of Hawaii.
Alec Pakzad (Bellevue, Wash.) has been consistent over the first two days, shooting 74 (+2) in each round to currently land in a tie for 18th place at 148 (+4). Playing as an individual, Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) followed a first-round 76 (+4) with an even-par 72 in the second round to join Pakzad in the 18th-place tie at 148.
Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) shot 74 (+2) in Sunday's first round and 77 (+5) in Monday's second circuit for a 36-hole total of 151 (+7), currently tied for 28th. Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) is in a tie for 30th place with a two-round total of 152 (+8) after rounds of 77 (+5) and 75 (+3), and Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) is tied for 38th place after rounds of 79 (+7) and 77 (+5) gave him a two-round total of 156 (+12).
As a team, Seattle University combined for a score of 296 (+8) in the first round and 299 (+11) in the second round for a 36-hole total of 595 (+19), currently in fifth place in the team standings. Hawaii holds the advantage after two rounds with a score of 567 (-9), seven strokes ahead of College of Charleston.
The third and final round of the Kauai Collegiate Invitational is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. local time.
