Mark Shkrebtan's (Redmond, Wash.) run in the men's singles consolation bracket of the USTA/ITA Northwest Regionals ended after reaching the semifinals Monday.
Shkrebtan, a senior on the Seattle University men's tennis team, fell in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) to Scott Sullivan of Gonzaga. Sullivan advances to the final, where he faces Stanford's Robert Stineman.
"It was a great run for Mark this weekend, even in today's match, as he fought through some fatigue to be ahead by a break in each set," head coach Mark Frisby said. "This will serve as a good building block for both Mark and the team as we move on this season."
Next up for Shkrebtan and the Seattle University men's tennis team is the PNW Intercollegiates at Eugene, Ore., Nov. 4-6. The 2011-12 season is the final year of independence for the Seattle University men's tennis team before joining the Western Athletic Conference July 1, 2012.
