Weekly Release: CSU Bakersfield
This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's soccer team (9-5) will vie for their tenth win of the season as they travel to Bakersfield, Calif. this weekend. The Redhawks will face fellow DI Independent squad CSU Bakersfield (3-9-1) on Friday, Oct. 14, in a 5 p.m. game.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks are coming off their biggest win of the season, a 3-0 shutout victory over Hawaii at home on Oct. 9. Jordan Salisbury, Ava Ames and Liana Heberer all scored after the 75th minute to grab the victory.

On Deck: The Redhawks will hit the road for their longest road trip of the year on Sunday, Oct. 23. SU will travel to Austin, Texas to face the Texas Longhorns in a 1 p.m. CT match.
One More: The Redhawks only have one remaining home contest in 2011. They host Montana on Friday, Oct. 28, following their two-game road swing in California and Texas. The match will also mark SU's annual Senior Day ceremony.
Doubling Up: The Redhawks will go for their tenth win of the season, in hopes making 2011 the second straight season they reached double digit victories.
The First One's Special: With a 25-yard blast versus Hawaii on Oct. 9, Liana Heberer scored her first career goal.
Heberer was also named this week's GoSeattleU.com's Featured Student-Athlete of the Week following her solid performance versus the Rainbow Wahine. She boasts a 3.2 cumulative GPA and has been a consistent contributor off the bench for SU all season.
The Numbers: The Redhawks are 7-3 when playing on the road and 2-2 at home this season.
The Connection: Senior Jordan Salisbury and sophomore Mary Hill have proved to have an undeniable connection this season. The duo has connected on four SU goals this season, with Hill feeding all four assists to Salisbury. Versus Hawaii on Oct. 9, a 77th minute Hill free kick reached Salisbury, who was able to send in the game-winner.
Clean Sheets: This season the Redhawks have tallied five shutout victories. They are coming off their most decisive win of the season, 3-0, over Hawaii on Oct. 9.
The Woodward Tally: Head coach Julie Woodward reached the 200-win milestone on Sept. 18, in SU's 3-1 victory over San Diego State. She is the No. 5 winningest coach in SU history in a single sport and the winningest women's soccer coach in program history.
The Captains: Senior goalkeeper Madison Goverde and senior defender Renee Vandermause will captain the 2011 Redhawk squad.
Final Year of Independence: 2011 will mark SU's final season playing as an NCAA DI Independent. On July 1, 2012 Seattle U will officially join the Western Athletic Conference as full members.
UNLV NIKE Invite Champs: The only team to go 2-0 at the UNLV NIKE Invitational, the Redhawks earned their first tournament title of the season. They defeated host-UNLV and San Diego State.
One For the Books!: SU's 2-0 shutout victory over then-No. 8 Portland was the biggest win in Redhawk women's soccer program history. It also marked the highest win an SU team has earned since reclassifying back to Division I.
Scouting CSU Bakersfield: The Roadrunners of CSU Bakersfield (3-9-1) host Seattle U after splitting their two-match road trip in Iowa. They fell to Northern Iowa 3-1 on Oct. 7, and edged past Drake, 2-1, two days later.
Sam Pena leads the Roadrunners' offense with four goals in 12 games, while Emily Noethe and Kassi Massey both have scored three goals apiece. Daisy Vazquez is the squad's assist leader, with four.
In goal, Kym Gause has played all 1205 minutes. She's tallied a 2.09 goals against average, 75 saves and a shutout on the year. She's also allowed 28 goals against in 13 games played.
The Last Time Seattle U Faced CSU Bakersfield: The Redhawks won both meetings with the Roadrunners last year. At Bakersfield on Oct. 29, Carlee Norquist slid one past the keeper five minutes into the second overtime to give the Redhawks a 1-0 2OT victory. On Nov. 6, at Championship Field, the Redhawks won, 1-0, behind an 80th minute goal from freshman Jacqui Wallis, who made her debut in the match.
