Richards and Dill each finished with 14 kills, a service ace, and nine digs, with Dill also collecting four total blocks. Farley earned a career-high 13 kills, posted a .500 hitting percentage, and added five block assists, while Jordan Keller (Mukilteo, Wash.) became Seattle U's all-time total blocks leader with five total blocks in the match.
"It was a great match tonight. The gym was loud and hot, and I give credit to Boise State for its excellent fan support. Our players did a fantastic job of staying focused and aggressive from beginning to end. It was a true team effort," head coach Shannon Ellis said.
Seattle U scored the first three points of the match, but three kills by Elizabeth Griffin allowed Boise State to score five unanswered points. The Broncos slowly pulled away throughout the rest of the set, taking a 23-18 lead before Farley connected on three straight kills. A kill by Griffin and a Redhawk attack error closed out the first set in Boise State's favor.
The second set was extremely close, with neither team holding more than a two-point lead at any time. A kill by Farley set up set point for Seattle U at 24-23, but Boise State held off the Redhawks with a kill by Brittany Reardon. Farley would earn another kill to set up Seattle U's second set point, and the Redhawks would convert thanks to a block from Dill and Keller, tying the match at one set apiece.
Down 8-5 in the third set, Seattle U scored nine unanswered points, helped by four blocks from Farley with two assists each by Dill and Alec Goodrie (Springfield, Ore.). Boise State went on a 6-2 scoring run to pull to within four at 22-18, but the Redhawks closed out the set with a kill by Farley and a service ace from Allie Hoskins (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
The fourth set was tied 6-6 before Seattle U took the lead for good with an 8-1 scoring run, which included a kill and two blocks by Goodrie and two more service aces from Hoskins. An 8-3 scoring run brought the Broncos back to within two at 22-20, but a final block from Keller and Richards closed out the set and the match.
Megan Augustavo (Shoreline, Wash.) dished out 44 assists to go along with two kills and nine defensive digs. Goodrie contributed five kills and four total blocks, and Hoskins led the Redhawks with three service aces and 14 defensive digs.
Boise State (10-8) was led by Fiona Jones, who notched a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, while Reardon and Griffin each finished with 11 kills. Breann Nesselhuf also earned a double-double with 29 assists and 10 digs, Liz Harden led the Broncos at the net with seven block assists, and Amanda Remy and Kersti Whitney contributed 15 defensive digs apiece.
Seattle University (4-12) heads to Fort Collins, Colo., for a matchup against 23rd-ranked Colorado State Thursday night, Oct. 5, beginning at 7 p.m. local time (6 p.m. Pacific time).
