The Seattle University men's golf team showed significant improvement from the first round to the second round, shaving 12 strokes off its morning-round score in the afternoon round to move into 10th place Friday after two rounds of The McLaughlin, hosted by St. John's University at the Bethpage Red Course.

Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) stayed steady throughout the day, shooting 71 (+1) in each round to end the day in a tie for 21st place with a two-round total of 142 (+2). After an opening-round 74 (+4), Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) shot the team's best round of the day, posting a second-round 69 (-1) for a 36-hole total of 143 (+3), good enough for a tie for 28th place.

Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) recovered from an opening-round 76 (+6) with a second-round score of even-par 70 to finish the day in a tie for 46th place with a cumulative score of 146 (+6). Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) and Quinn Koplitz (Enumclaw, Wash.) are tied for 53rd place after the first day with a two-round total of 147 (+7), with Pavlos shooting 75 (+5) and 72 (+2) in the two rounds while Koplitz posted scores of 74 (+4) and 73 (+3).

Seattle U was in 13th place after a first-round 294 (+14), but the Redhawks combined for a second-round total of 282 (+2) to move up into 10th place with a two-round total of 576 (+16), one stroke ahead of Villanova and Sacred Heart. West Florida shot back-to-back rounds of 274 (-6) to take the lead after 36 holes by five strokes over TCU, with Carlos Rodriguez leading the individual standings by six strokes after posting a two-round total of 129 (-11).

Seattle University will conclude its participation in The McLaughlin Saturday morning, with first tee times scheduled for 7:30 a.m. local time.
