Paced by senior Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.), who posted two rounds under par, the Seattle University men's golf team is in a tie for ninth place after the first day of the Palouse Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Washington State at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course.

Dahl posted 10 birdies and shot three-under-par on the par-four holes as he posted scores of 69 (-2) and 70 (-1) to finish the first day in second place with a two-round total of 139 (-3). He is six strokes behind Jarred Bossio of Idaho, who shot 65 (-6) in the first round and followed that with a 68 (-3) for a 36-hole total of 133 (-9).

Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) improved from the first round to the second round, following a 75 (+4) in the morning round with a 70 (-1) in the afternoon for a two-round total of 145 (+3) to end the day in a tie for 23rd place. Pavlos is tied for second among the golfers with 25 pars after 36 holes. Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) shot 73 (+2) in the first round and followed that with a second-round 76 (+5) to end the day in a tie for 40th place with a two-round score of 149 (+7).

Two transfers are appearing in their first career tournament for the Redhawks. Quinn Koplitz (Enumclaw, Wash.) improved from a first-round 79 (+8) to a second-round 74 (+3) for a 36-hole total of 153 (+11), ending the first day in a tie for 59th place. Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) is in a tie for 70th place after the first day with rounds of 79 (+8) and 78 (+7) for a two-round total of 157 (+15).

After combining for a first-round score of 296 (+12), Seattle U improved with a second-round total of 290 (+6) to end the day tied with Sacramento State with a cumulative score of 586 (+18). The Redhawks are only seven strokes behind fourth-place Boise State. San Jose State leads the tournament with a score of 563 (-5), nine shots ahead of Washington State and Idaho.

Seattle University will conclude play Tuesday morning, teeing off from the 10th hole starting at 7:15 a.m.
