After finishing off the 2010-11 season with a top-15 performance at the America Sky Men's Golf Conference Championships, junior Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) earned Second Team All-America Sky honors, announced recently by the conference office.

Dahl improved in each round of the championships, posting scores of 78 (+7) and 77 (+6) on the first two days before shooting even-par 71, the Redhawks' best round of the entire tournament, to move up into a tie for 12th place in the final standings with a cumulative score of 226 (+13). Dahl finished the tournament tied for fourth among the 60 golfers in total pars with 36 and tied for sixth in par-four scoring at seven-over-par.

Dahl played in 24 competitive rounds for Seattle U in 2010-11, posting one of the best scoring averages on the team at 74.4. He entered the Redhawk lineup in the team's second tournament of the year, finishing in a tie for 20th place at the Saint Martin's Invitational with a final score of two-under-par 214. His best round of the year was a first-round 68 at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational October 4.

The All-America Sky Conference honors were based on the combination of GolfStat and GolfWeek rankings. Jake Katz of Binghamton earned Athlete of the Year honors, while representatives from Sacramento State picked up both the Newcomer of the Year (Jordan Weir) and the Coach of the Year (Dave Kearl) awards.

Dahl is one of four players on the Seattle U men's golf team who competed in the America Sky Championships that are eligible to return for the 2011-12 season. Six other golfers who were on the 2010-11 roster also have eligibility remaining to compete for the Redhawks next year.
