Head Seattle University women’s soccer coach Julie Woodward announced the addition of goalkeeper Aris Coover (Bellevue, Wash.) to the incoming class of 2015. Coover is one of six student-athletes to join the Redhawks this fall for the 2011 campaign.
“Aris is a goalkeeper we have had our eye on for a long time,” said Woodward. “She has a ton of potential and will benefit greatly from consistent training with our goalkeeper coach, Katie Hultin. Aris has a ton of natural athleticism, quick reaction time and is a solid presence behind the back line. We are really looking forward to seeing what she can accomplish at the next level.”
Coover was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at nearby Newport High School. With the Knights, she was a two-time all-conference honorable mention selection as a junior and senior. She also played club soccer for Newport Select from 2000-09 and FC Alliance from 2010-11. In addition to playing soccer, Coover played two seasons of water polo in 2008 and 2009.
The Washingtonian is only goalkeeper joining the class of 2015. Coover joins fellow newcomers: Megan Daniels (Mission Viejo, Calif.), Kiana Kraft (Kent, Wash.), Taylor Ritzman (Halladay, Utah), Renae Russell (Lake Forest, Calif.) and Stephanie Verdoia (Salt Lake City, Utah).
