The Seattle University women's tennis team earned third place in the Great West Conference with a 4-0 victory over Texas-Pan American Sunday morning at the CSU Tennis Courts.

In a reversal of the previous day's match against NJIT, the number two and number three doubles teams for the Redhawks were victorious, clinching the first point for Seattle U. Gabriella Weissmann (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) defeated Wanda Beguelin and Dana Nazarova, 8-5, while Ariel Ohno (Kent, Wash.) and Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) posted an 8-5 win over Suncica Strkic and Blanca Garcia.

Weissmann also posted a victory at number three singles, defeating Nazarova in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). At number two singles, Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.) earned a straight-set victory over Beguelin (6-1, 6-3), and Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) needed only two sets to defeat Garcia in the number six singles position (6-2, 6-1).

Seattle University finished the 2011 dual match season with a 10-15 record, having won seven of its last eight contests. The team will lose Ohno to graduation, but everyone else on the 2010-11 roster is eligible to return for the 2011-12 academic year, giving the Redhawks an experienced squad to once again compete for the Great West title.
