Weissmann and Lucas earned the doubles victory over Nayanatara Vadali and Marina Todd, 8-2, while Ariel Ohno (Kent, Wash.) and Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) defeated Marti Pellicano and Masha Los by the same score to give the doubles point to Seattle U. The Redhawks nearly swept the doubles sets, but Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.) and Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) lost in a tiebreaker to Yuki Sugiyama and Anya Dalkin, 8-7 (8-6).
Weissmann was able to pull out a first-set tiebreaker over Vadali before cruising in the second set to earn the straight-set victory (7-6 (8-6), 6-0). In the number five singles position, Lucas eased past Todd in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). Schwab continued her singles winning streak with a straight-set victory over Dalkin (6-4, 7-5), and Wurden defeated Los in the number six singles position, also in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).
Seattle University (9-14) will prepare for the Great West Conference Tournament, to be hosted by Chicago State University in Chicago, Ill., Saturday and Sunday, April 30-May 1. Texas-Pan American, NJIT, North Dakota, and South Dakota will also participate in the season-ending tournament, with UTPA having been picked as the conference favorite in the preseason coaches' poll.
