Thanks to a blistering 69 by Chris Holway (Longview, Wash.) in Monday's first round, the Seattle University men's golf team settled into 12th place after the first day of the OGIO-Santa Barbara Intercollegiate at the Sandpiper Golf Club.

After posting an opening-round 69 (-3) that put him in a tie for third place, Holway struggled in the afternoon, shooting 78 (+6) in the second round to finish the day in a tie for 16th place with a two-round total of 147 (+3). Holway is tied for fourth among all golfers with eight birdies after 36 holes and is shooting one-under-par on the par-four holes, tied for fifth in that category.

Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) improved from a first-round 78 (+6) to a second-round 75 (+3) to move into a tie for 40th place with a cumulative score of 153 (+9). Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) shot 76 (+4) in the morning and 81 (+9) in the afternoon for a two-round total of 157 (+13) to finish the day in a tie for 61st place. Both Dahl and Seibly earned eagles during the day.

Both Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.) and Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) finished the day in a tie for 77th place with a 36-hole total of 161 (+17). Beals posted rounds of 79 (+7) and 82 (+10), while Pavlos did the reverse, shooting 82 (+10) in the morning before improving to a 79 (+7) in the afternoon.

As a team, Seattle University started the day with a 302 (+14) before combining for a 313 (+25) in the second round to end the day in 12th place at 615 (+39). Oregon holds a commanding 19-stroke lead over UC Santa Barbara in the team standings, with Duck teammates Jack Dukeminier and Robbie Ziegler currently tied for the individual lead at 139 (-5).

The Seattle University men's golf team will finish play in the OGIO-Santa Barbara Intercollegiate with one more 18-hole round Tuesday, March 29, beginning at 8 a.m.
