Thanks to a come-from-behind victory by junior Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.) in the number two singles position, the Seattle University women's tennis team posted its fifth straight win, a 4-3 decision over San Jose State Sunday at the tennis courts at the Bally's Resort.

In a match that lasted over two-and-a-half hours, Schwab lost the first set to Sabastiani Leon Chao (5-7), fell behind in the second set before rallying back to tie the match at one set apiece (6-4), and then, with everyone watching, took the deciding set, 6-3. It clinched Seattle University's biggest victory since the reestablishment of the tennis program in 2008.

San Jose State (5-5) earned the doubles point with a solid victory in the number one doubles set and a close win in the number three doubles position. The Redhawk tandem of Gabriella Weissmann (Simi Valley, Calif.) and Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) won their doubles set in the number two position, 8-4, to keep Seattle U in contention for the first point of the match.

The other three Seattle U singles victories came in straight sets, led by number one player Ariel Ohno (Kent, Wash.), who defeated Olivia Marshall (6-3, 6-2). In the number four singles position, Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) earned an easy victory over Emily Prescott (6-0, 6-0), while Lucas won the first set in the number five spot before her opponent retired during the second set.

Seattle University (8-14) looks to extend its winning streak next Friday, April 1, against Portland State beginning at 1 p.m. in Portland, Ore. That is scheduled to be the Redhawks' final dual match before heading to Chicago, Ill., for the Great West Conference Tournament Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1.
