In a potential preview of the Great West Conference Tournament, the Seattle University women's tennis team won the doubles point and picked up enough singles victories to defeat North Dakota, 4-3, Friday afternoon at the Bally's Resort.

In the number three doubles set, Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) and Ariel Ohno (Kent, Wash.) defeated Hallie Welk and Megan Sween, 8-5. The number one doubles set went to a tiebreaker, with Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.) and Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) prevailing over Erin Kappers and Callie Ronkowski, 8-6 in the tiebreaker.

Schwab picked up a straight-set victory over Stephanie Petsis in the number one singles position (6-1, 6-4), while Lambert earned a crucial point for the Redhawks by squeaking past Welk in a three-set thriller (6-4, 4-6, 6-2). Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) collected Seattle U's other point with a straight-set victory over Stephanie Biehn (6-3, 6-1).

Seattle University (6-14) continues its participation in the Las Vegas Challenge, hosted by Southern Utah University, Saturday, March 26, with a 1 p.m. contest against South Dakota, another Great West Conference foe, at the Bally's Resort.
