The Seattle University men's tennis team lost two close matches to Idaho State Friday at the Darling Tennis Center, falling in the morning contest, 4-3, before suffering a 4-1 loss in the afternoon.

Idaho State (3-11) won the doubles point in the morning match, earning victories in the number one and number three doubles sets. Simon Meske (Tacoma, Wash.) and Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) defeated Danel Barrenechea and Dan Buckingham in the number two doubles position, 8-6.

Meske and Bediones would also win their singles matches in the morning, with Meske coming from behind to defeat Dakota Pate in three sets (4-6, 7-5, 6-2), while Bediones earned a straight-set victory over Buckingham (6-4, 6-1). David Kovas (South Bend, Ind.) also picked up a singles victory, winning the first set, 6-2, before Barrenechea defaulted the match.

The afternoon contest consisted of four singles matches and a doubles set, with each match winner receiving a point for their team. Idaho State won all four singles matches, while the combination of Meske and Jordan Prince (Hansville, Wash.) earned Seattle U's lone point of the afternoon with a 6-1 doubles victory over the Pate brothers.

Seattle University (3-15) will prepare for the Independent Tournament, hosted by Longwood University in Farmville, Va., Friday and Saturday, April 15-16.
