With continued consistent play, the Seattle University men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place Tuesday in the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah University at Sunbrook Golf Club.

Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) was the top golfer for Seattle U, posting a second-round score of 73 for a two-day total of 145 (+1), good enough for a tie for 15th place. Among all golfers in the tournament, Dahl was tied for 10th with eight birdies over the two days.

Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.) shot the Redhawks' best round of the day, posting an even-par 72 to move up into a tie for 29th place with a cumulative score of 147 (+3). Beals tied for the lowest score on par-four holes at two-under-par and made nine birdies, tied for third-most among all participants, over the 36-hole tournament.

Chris Holway (Longview, Wash.) shot 78 in the second round and finished the tournament in a tie for 37th place with a final score of 150 (+6). John Payton (Sammamish, Wash.) made a nine-stroke improvement from the first round to the second round, shooting 73 Tuesday to move into a tie for 53rd place with a cumulative score of 155 (+11). Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) finished in a tie for 68th place after a second-round 84 gave him a 36-hole total of 163 (+19).

As a team, Seattle University shot 296 (+8) in the second round for a two-day total of 594 (+18), tied with host school Southern Utah for seventh place in the team standings. Dixie State won the team title with a second straight 285 that led to a five-stroke victory over College of Charleston. Mason Casper of Utah Valley earned medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 137 (-7), two strokes ahead of two golfers.

The Seattle University men's golf team will next compete in the Snowman Invitational, hosted by Washington State University at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz., next Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 21-22.
