Last Time Out: The Redhawks (5-17) could not hang on to their first half momentum, as they dropped their season series to Chicago State on Jan. 29. SU fell 74-62 to the Cougars. Elle Kerfoot had another standout performance, scoring 20 points and making eight assists. Sylvia Shephard also had a career-best performance, behind 10 boards.
On Deck: Seattle U will host their annual Think Pink game on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. versus Eastern Washington. Proceeds will benefit the Kay Yow Foundation.

Bonvicini's Back: Second season head coach Joan Bonvicini returns to the site of her head coaching roots this week. Bonvicini spent 12 seasons at Long Beach State from 1979-91. During that time she compiled a 325-71 record, earning 10 conference championships and 10 berths into the NCAA Tournament, including a pair of Final Four appearances (1987 and 1988).
Moving Up in the National Rankings: Daidra Brown is No. 18 in the nation in steals per game. The sophomore transfer is averaging 3.1 spg, behind 22 games played and 68 total steals on the season.
Kerfoot Continues Offensive Tear: Junior point guard Elle Kerfoot has developed into a dominate offensive force for the Redhawks. She is averaging 12.2 ppg in 22 consecutive starts. Kerfoot has scored in double figures in the last six games, including a season high 20 points on Jan. 29 versus Chicago State.
Snap that Skid: The Redhawks will look to snap a six-game losing skid at home this weekend at Long Beach State.
The End is Near: Seattle U will only have two more home contests. They will host Eastern Washington (Feb. 8) and close things out with Cal State Bakersfield (Feb. 12).
In the Classroom: The Redhawks excelled in the classroom during the Fall Quarter. The team posted above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Redhawks Add Midseason Transfer: Seattle U added sophomore point guard Nichole Jackson to the Redhawk hoops squad for the Winter 2011 quarter. Due to NCAA transfer rule she will have to sit out for a year and will be eligible to begin action with SU in the Winter of 2012.
Some Coaching History: Head coach Joan Bonvicini enters Wednesday's action behind 623 career victories. She is in the top-20 in all-time wins among both active DI coaches and all-time DI history.
Kerfoot Named to All-Tournament Team: Co-captain and point guard Elle Kerfoot was the selected to the Seattle U Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team on Nov. 27, following her 30 point performance and helping guide SU to the championship game.
Seattle U Inks Three for 2011-12: Monique Abbs (Phoenix, Ariz.), Renee Dillard-Brown (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Flournoy (San Diego, Calif.) will join the Seattle U women's team next season. This is the second recruiting class head coach Joan Bonvicini has signed since joining SU for the 2009-10 season.
The Captains: Junior point guard Elle Kerfoot and senior post Tatiana Heck will serve as captains for the Redhawks is 2010-11.
Scouting Long Beach State: Long Beach State enters this Friday's game riding a 5-18 overall, 3-7 Big West record. After putting together back-to-back victories over UC Irvine (1/22) and Pacific (1/27), the 49ers dropped a 64-48 decision to Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 29.
Leading CSULB's offense is Brandi Henton, who is averaging 13.4 ppg in 23 games played. Following Henton is Courtney Jacob, who's averaging 13.3 ppg and a team-leading 6.7 rpg. Jacob also is the team's dish leader with 3.6 apg.
The Last Time Seattle U Faced Long Beach State: This will be the first meeting between the Redhawks and 49ers in program history.
