Up Next For the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's basketball team will look to get back on track this weekend in a season rematch with Chicago State. The Redhawks will square off with the Cougars (12-8, 4-0 Great West) on Saturday, Jan. 29, in a 4 p.m. contest in the Connolly Center.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks (5-16) let an early lead slip past them, as they dropped a 69-55 decision to Harvard at home on Jan. 22. Elle Kerfoot led both sides with 17 points and Sylvia Shephard had a career-best performance, behind 10 points, seven boards, three assists and three steals.

On Deck: Seattle U will return to road action, as the Redhawks travel to Long Beach State on Friday, Feb. 4, for a 7 p.m. game. It will be a homecoming for head coach Joan Bonvicini, as she began her head coaching career with The Beach.

Rematch Time: The Redhawks game versus Chicago State will be a rematch of their Jan. 17 loss. SU was edged 59-53 by the Cougars in Chicago, Ill.

Moving Up in the National Rankings: Daidra Brown is tied for No. 15 in the nation in steals per game. The sophomore transfer is averaging 3.2 spg, behind 21 games played and 67 total steals on the season.

Kerfoot Takes Off: Junior point guard Elle Kerfoot has taken off offensively, as she has scored in double figures in 15 games, including the Redhawks last five contests. She is averaging 11.9 ppg.

Snap that Skid: The Redhawks will look to snap a five-game losing skid at home this weekend versus Chicago State.

The End is Near: Following Saturday's game versus Chicago State, Seattle U will only have two more home contests. They will host Eastern Washington (Feb. 8) and close things out with Cal State Bakersfield (Feb. 12).

Calling All Alums!: The Redhawks will recognize all Seattle U women's basketball alums this weekend at their game versus Chicago State. There will be an alumni reception in the Quiet Exercise Room following the game.

In the Classroom: The Redhawks excelled in the classroom during the Fall Quarter. The team posted above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Redhawks Add Midseason Transfer: Seattle U added sophomore point guard Nichole Jackson to the Redhawk hoops squad for the Winter 2011 quarter. Due to NCAA transfer rule she will have to sit out for a year and will be eligible to begin action with SU in the Winter of 2012.

Some Coaching History: Head coach Joan Bonvicini enters Wednesday's action behind 623 career victories. She is in the top-20 in all-time wins among both active DI coaches and all-time DI history.

Kerfoot Named to All-Tournament Team: Co-captain and point guard Elle Kerfoot was the selected to the Seattle U Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team on Nov. 27, following her 30 point performance and helping guide SU to the championship game.

Seattle U Inks Three for 2011-12: Monique Abbs (Phoenix, Ariz.), Renee Dillard-Brown (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Flournoy (San Diego, Calif.) will join the Seattle U women's team next season. This is the second recruiting class head coach Joan Bonvicini has signed since joining SU for the 2009-10 season.

The Captains: Junior point guard Elle Kerfoot and senior post Tatiana Heck will serve as captains for the Redhawks is 2010-11.

Scouting Chicago State: The Cougars of Chicago State (12-8, 4-0 Great West) travel west to square off with the Redhawks for the second time in a 12-day span. The Cougars are coming off an 83-42 victory over the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Jan. 22.

Saturday's matchup will be their first game on the road in six games, where they established their nearly month-long six-game win streak.

Leading Chicago State's offense is a trio of double figure scorers, led by Tressa Beckel. She's averaging a team-leading 18.7 ppg and 8.6 rpg. Following Beckel are Courtney Waldon (16.3 ppg) and Janay Dockery (12.6 ppg).

The Last Time Seattle U Faced Chicago State: This will be the second time in a 12-day span that the Redhawks and Cougars will face off. In their last meeting on Jan. 17 in Chicago, the Redhawks suffered a last minute edging, 59-53.
