All five Redhawk points against Lewis-Clark State came in the singles matches, beginning with Steffanie Mortera (Portland, Ore.) in the number two position pulling out a three-set victory over Dorothy Chong (7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-2). In the number three singles position, Gabriella Weissmann (Simi Valley, Calif.) earned a straight-set victory over Ciara Schultz (6-3, 6-3).
Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) cruised past Samantha Teigen in the number four position (6-0, 6-1), while Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) fought her way past Barbara Sneckner in straight sets in the number five singles slot (7-5, 6-4). Freshman Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) eased her way past Miranda Duggan in the number six singles position in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).
Lewis-Clark State (0-2) won the doubles point with victories in the number one and number three doubles sets. The tandem of Weissmann and Lucas earned Seattle U's first doubles victory of the dual match season, defeating Teigen and Chelsea Gay in the number two doubles spot, 8-4.
In the morning contest, Idaho (1-0) won all singles matches in straight sets and also swept the doubles sets. Lucas stayed with Molly Knox in the number five singles position before losing in straight sets (7-5, 6-3), while Mortera kept pace with Silvia Irimescu in the number three singles position before losing in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).
Seattle University (1-2) concludes the season-opening road trip with a morning match at Eastern Washington in Cheney, Wash., at 9 a.m., followed by an afternoon contest in Spokane, Wash., against Gonzaga University at 3 p.m.
