This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's basketball team will kick off the 2010-11 campaign this weekend with a pair of contests. The Redhawks will open the year with Cal Poly on Friday, Nov. 12, in a 7 p.m. game. Two days later, SU will host Cal State Fullerton in a 1 p.m. contest.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks opened up the year with a sound 84-57 exhibition victory over Academy of Art on Nov. 6. The SU newcomers accounted for 61 of the 84 points, with Daidra Brown scoring a team-leading 15 points. Four players scored in double figures in the contest.

On Deck: Following their season-opening weekend, SU will hit the road for a pair of games in the Golden State. They will square off with UC Riverside on Friday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. and close out the road trip at the University of San Diego on Sunday, Nov. 21, in a 2 p.m. game.

The Bonvicini Breakdown: "We are looking forward to the start of the season. The entire team has worked extremely hard to get prepared for this year. We are going to take on two solid programs, so they are going to challenge us," said head coach Joan Bonvicini.

Heck Returns to Build on Junior Season: Senior Tatiana Heck is the Redhawks top returning scorer from last season. The senior from Lynnwood, Wash. averaged 11 ppg and capped off the year by being named to the All-Independent Second Team. She will be looked to be an inside scoring threat and a top rebounder for the team.

Fresh Faces: The Redhawks will see six eligible newcomers in action this year. In SU's exhibition contest on Nov. 6, versus Academy of Art, the newbies accounted for 61 of SU's 84 points. Salena Dickerson and Kacie Sowell both posted double-doubles, while Daidra Brown led the squad with 15 points.

Scouting Cal Poly: The Mustangs of Cal Poly will play their first action of the 2010-11 campaign in Seattle this weekend. They did not see any exhibition action prior heading to the Emerald City. CP is led by Kristina Santiago, who in 29 consecutive starts last year, averaged 19.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg and 1.8 apg. The team's second top scorer in Rachel Clancy also returns. She averaged 11.3 ppg, with 5.4 rpg and 2.9 apg.

In 2009-10, the Mustangs were 18-11 overall, 11-5 Big West. They were dominate at home, going 12-2, but went 6-8 on the road. They welcome five newcomers to the roster this season.

Last Time Seattle U Faced Cal Poly: In their last meeting on Dec. 29, 2009 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. the Redhawks fell 94-66 to the Mustangs. Elle Kerfoot led the team with 16 points and four boards, while Maggie McCarthy had 13 points and eight boards. For Cal Poly, they saw five players score in double digits, with Kristina Santiago leading the team with 15 points.

Scouting Cal State Fullerton: Cal State Fullerton heads to the Northwest for a pair of contests. They will open on Friday, Nov. 12, at Eastern Washington prior to heading to Seattle U.

The Titans saw an exhibition victory over Point Loma Nazarene, 86-60, on Nov. 6. Senior Lyndsey Grove scored a team-leading 21 points.
CSUF returns 13 letterwinners from 2009-10, including the team's offensive leader Megan Richardson, who averaged 15.3 ppg and 3.7 rpg. Following Richardson was second top returning scorer Grove, who averaged 12.1 ppg and 4.5 rpg.

Last Time Seattle U Faced Cal State Fullerton: Despite 44 second half points to send the game into overtime, in their last meeting the Redhawks were edged 82-76 at Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 27, 2010. Ashley Brown led the Redhawks with 22 points, while Jasmine Scott scored a game-leading 26 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Titans.
