The Seattle U swim teams continued their season with meets at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. on Saturday. The men swam against Pacific and Cal State Bakersfield, while the women faced off against Pacific, CSUB, and Loyola Marymount.
The women defeated CSUB 151-11, and lost to both Loyola Marymount 144-118 and Pacific 160-99. The men lost to both CSUB (171-91) and Pacific (149.5-112.5).
Junior Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) led the women with a first place finish in the 200 yd. breaststroke in 2:21.99 and a second place finish in the100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.17. Junior Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) swam a second-place finish in the 500 yd. freestyle in 5:11.32.
Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.), Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.), Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.), and Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) swam for a second place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:40.74.
On the men’s side, sophomore Murray Longbotham (Mercer Island, Wash.) scored two first place finishes. His first was in the 200 yd. freestyle with a time of 1:43.07, and the second was in the 500 yard freestyle in 4:40.20. Freshman Nicolas Morrell won the 200 backstroke in 1:57.35, and was just behind Longbotham in the 500 free with a third place finish in 4:46.28. Junior James Gilmore (Eugene, Ore.) also placed second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:55.97.
In the relays, the men finished second in the 200 yd. medley with a time of 1:34.75, and third in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:11.53.
The women will cap off the weekend with a meet on Sunday against Cal State Davis and Loyola Marymount in Davis, Calif. on Sunday at 11 a.m. Next week, the Redhawks host their first swim meet against Simon Fraser on Saturday, Nov. 13th at the Connolly Center beginning at 1 p.m.
