This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University men's soccer team (4-10-3 overall, 2-6-1 MPSF) will conclude the 2010 regular season at Cal State Bakersfield this Sunday, Nov. 7. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. against the Roadrunners (10-4-3 overall, 5-1-3 MPSF).

Last Time Out: The Redhawks dropped both of their final home contests of the season, despite valiant efforts on the offensive end of the field. On Oct. 29, SU went down versus Air Force in the first half, but freshman Brady Ballew found a clearance and evened the score early in the final period of play. Behind a 20 to 15 shot advantage, the Redhawks were unable to see the back of the net again before the Falcons sent in the game-winner late in the half.

Two days later, in the final match in the month of October, the Redhawks offense was stymied by Denver. SU dropped a 2-0 decision to the Pioneers, despite controlling the ball and playing fluidly between the 18's they were unable to connect the ball into the back of the net.

Agoos' Thoughts: "This is a big weekend for us, as we still have an opportunity to play in the conference tournament. We are hoping for a good result in Bakersfield and to end the regular season on a positive note," said head coach Brad Agoos.

Ballew Provides Offensive Lift: Freshman Brady Ballew scored his second career goal versus Air Force on Oct. 29. He sent in a second half equalizer and was an offensive spark plug for the Redhawks all weekend.

In the MPSF: The Redhawks are currently in third place in the Pacific Division in the MPSF.

Conference Tournament Update: Five of the six postseason MPSF conference tournament spots have been claimed, with Sacramento State, San Jose State and Seattle U battling for the final place in postseason action. The Redhawks will need to beat CSU Bakersfield and San Jose State needs to beat Sacramento State this weekend to give SU a chance to play in the tournament from Nov. 11-14 in Sacramento, Calif.

Final Regular Season Contest: The Redhawks will conclude the regular season this weekend at Cal State Bakersfield in a 1:30 p.m. match on Sunday, Nov. 7.

Scouting Cal State Bakersfield: The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners (10-4-3 overall, 5-1-3 MPSF) currently are the only MPSF Pacific Division team to have clinched a spot in the postseason conference tournament. They were undefeated in conference play until this past weekend, when dropped a 2-1 decision at home to Denver. They currently are coming off a 3-0 shutout over Air Force.

Leading the Roadrunner offense is Jesus Sanchez. In 17 games played, he has scored eight goals and made a pair of assists, for 18 points. Gyasi Zardes is the team's assist leader, behind seven assist and three goals he has 13 points on the season.

Defensively, Eric Shannon has played in and started 16 games. In 1513:43 minutes of work, he's tallied 66 saves, eight shutouts and a 10-3-3 record. He's allowed 13 goals against and has a 0.77 goals against average. Shane Ascheri has started and played in only one game, which was the Roadrunners loss to Denver on Oct. 29.

The Redhawks hosted the Roadrunners earlier this season on Oct. 3. In a 90 minute battle, CSUB was able to edge SU 1-0 at Championship Field.
